Frequently asked questions

About the ministry

Is everything really free?

Yes. Our curricula, readers, live courses, and resources are free for anyone, anywhere — no accounts, no paywalls. The work is funded by the joyful, voluntary giving of people who want the biblical languages available to the whole Church.

Who is Lingua Deo Gloria for?

Pastors, missionaries, Bible translators, seminary students, churches, Christian schools, families, and any individual who wants to read the Scriptures in Hebrew or Greek. You need no prior experience to begin.

Can my church or school use your materials?

Please do! Unless a resource says otherwise, everything we publish may be freely used, shared, printed, and distributed for ministry and education. See our For Churches page for ideas.

What makes your teaching method different?

We teach through comprehensible input: stories, pictures, and real conversation in Hebrew and Greek, rather than memorizing paradigms first. Grammar still matters — it just arrives as a friend instead of a gatekeeper.

How is the ministry funded?

Through donations. Lingua Deo Gloria Ministries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; gifts come through Zeffy (which charges the ministry no fees) and monthly support on Patreon, and are tax deductible.

Live instruction

Who are these courses intended for?

Anyone who is willing to put in hard work to learn the language is encouraged to apply.

How can I sign up?

Apply using the application forms on the Live Instruction page. If you have questions, email us at admin@linguadeogloria.com.

Will everyone be accepted?

Depending on demand, we cannot guarantee that all applicants will be accepted. Class sizes are kept small so that every student has ample contact with the instructor.

How many hours a week should I expect to devote to homework?

Students who are accepted should expect to devote 4–6 hours a week to studying on their own.

How much Hebrew or Greek experience do I need in order to apply?

None at all. You can begin your Hebrew or Greek journey with us from zero.

I have already taken Hebrew or Greek in seminary. Can I still apply?

Absolutely! Any student, regardless of previous experience, can apply — and we encourage students with prior studies to join. Listening and speaking exercise parts of the brain that reading and translating alone do not.
